We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.- Aristotle.
I believe if you have a faulty engine in your car and there is a tongue-speaking, demon-casting, satan-binding and mountain- moving “brother” who is a mechanic who always leaves people’s cars much worse than he met them and you also have an atheist mechanic who does very good jobs, I bet you would hand over your car to the atheist! Why? Excellence!
Excellence is a spirit. Excellence is given by God. It is a characteristic of the recreated human spirit. Excellence sets one above his contemporaries, it makes one indispensable, makes kings call and beacon at its bearer; excellence begets efficiency and proficiency.
The Bible tells us about a man with an excellent spirit-Daniel (Dan. 6:3). He served as second in command after the King. He served four terms consecutively. He was ten times better than his contemporaries.
Excellence begins with very little things – doing assignments right and even redoing even when there is a correction, crosschecking, paying attention to minutest details…An excellent man has standards, he has respect for time, people, hardwork and can never cut corners, he is not impulsive. Have you been excellent? Remember, since habits are constituted by what we do, excellence should be what we do.
As exams commence, groom the spirit of excellence in you by the power of God in you.
Your Life is Great!
Much Love- Charles Okeke.
