Shalom's Creed With Charles XIV: The Fire brigade Syndrome.

Heiyah!!!...It's our columnist's cakeday, happy birthday to our writer , Okeke Charles. It's Friday in the cool and serene city of Jos, Nigeria.

Driving across banks in the city especially those in the bank street, an unusually large number of people are seen to gather under canopies.

Worse still, in two banking halls I entered, there is a throng of customers squeezing themselves like chicks rushing to escape out of a haphazardly opened brooder door at the sight of a snakehead. The reason for this hassle is that a lot of people want to get their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) as the deadline lies barely 3 days away.

The directive to get the BVNs however, came about 5 months earlier! The big question then - what were Nigerians doing for 5 months? This is what I call the Fire Brigade Syndrome - doing things when it is extremely late and as with the fire brigadiers, something is most likely salvaged but definitely damaged.

A lot of people are plagued with this syndrome. They flex the entire semester and read extremely late, they go late for functions and turn up late at meetings.

They lack planning and organization. The most specific area I want to concentrate on is the "Remembering your creator in the days of your youth" area. So many also leave this for their old age. By then, it is too late. God will definitely restore the lost years in terms of quality but not quantity. Enjoy God now! It may be too late to do so later.

***Happy Birthday to this inspirational and endowed columnist Okeke Charles ....Jah Bless your new age.

Your life is Great!
Much Love.
