ARTICLE: MY NIGERIA

In 1963, the first and only prime minister of an  independent Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafewa Balewa

took his annual leave and decided to spend it in his village. Just about then, a British photojournalist came along, but was told the PM was on vacation in his village.

Eager to satisfy his curiosity, he decided to travel down to Bauchi, in search of the PM, to his uttermost surprise, on getting to the village, there was no sign that a big man was in town. Everyone went on their normal business and the village was peaceful and tranquil.

Then he met a farmer who was leading a donkey carrying bales of sugarcane, with whom he sought the description to the PM’s home. The farmer helped in describing the house of the PM and also indicated that he was just returning from the PM’s House.

The British photojournalist was dazzled when he reached the PM’s home and found him sitting on the floor with his children, enjoying the sugarcane the farmer had brought them.

But what do we have today? Those who would disturb an entire city with sirens and their empty noises of vanity, those who loot the treasury of an entire Nation and still insult our common intelligence with embarrassing incompetence, who would rather form pals with insurgencies and forget our missing daughters  and sisters…#Bringbackourgirls….

All we need are visionary, dedicated, God-fearing, trustworthy and inspiring leaders and not the shameless and incorrigibly kleptomaniac ones who have been left to share and enjoy the dividends of democracy over the years.

Leaders who lie ,rob, cheat, rig and kill their way to power, hereby forgetting and probably killing the dream, struggle ,hustle, scuffle and even tussle of our founding fathers.***read Tafawa Balewa 1960 Independence speech***

“The one and only personality trait the effective [leaders ] I have encountered did have in common was something they did not have: they had little or no ‘charisma’ and little use  either for the term or what it signifies”--- Peter Drucker.

“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be bold, but not bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humour, but without folly”---John Rohn.

WHEN IT’S TIME TO VOTE, REMEMBER YOUR UNBORN CHILD AND USE YOUR HEAD!!!
